What is Canada Looking for in an Immigrant?

With the launch of Express entry on January 1st this year a lot of people were under the impression that anyone could submit an application under the new system in order to be considered for Canadian Permanent Residency.

Unfortunately this is not the case. You still need to meet all of the required criteria for one of the open immigration programs which is accepted under Express entry. If you do not meet the criteria of at least one of these programs then your application will be rejected immediately.

Some of the Criteria that Canada is looking for include:

  • High English or French proficiency levels in reading, writing, speaking and listening
  • Full time work experience either in Canada or in a Skilled occupation abroad (in your home country)
  • Post Secondary education / qualifications
  • A job offer from a Canadian employer

Each of the four qualifying programs differ in their specific requirements.

If you would like to find out more about each program, follow our blog as we will be discussing each program in the upcoming weeks.
